Why you’ll love these yogurt bites
- 16g protein per serving (8–10 bites)
- Only 9g net carbs and 160 calories per serving
- Creamy, frosty and genuinely poppable — like mini ice cream bites
- 15 minutes hands-on, no cooking at all
- Sugar-free and low carb, sweetened without honey or sugar
- Freezer-friendly for grab-and-go snacking
Health notes
- Greek yogurt: The high-protein base — thick non-fat yogurt coats and freezes best.
- Blueberries: Antioxidant-rich, naturally sweet-tart and low in carbs for a fruit.
- Sugar-free sweetener: Powdered monk fruit or erythritol — no honey needed, despite how good it looks in photos.
- Vanilla: Makes plain yogurt taste like dessert for zero carbs.
- Portion built in: Bite-size pieces make the 8–10 bite serving easy to stick to.
Key element — the blueberries must be completely dry
Wash the blueberries, then dry them properly — spread on a clean towel or paper towels and pat dry. Wet berries make the yogurt slide straight off and freeze into icy, patchy bites instead of smooth creamy ones.
Ingredients
Yogurt bites
- 2 cups fresh blueberries, washed and completely dried
- 1½ cups plain non-fat Greek yogurt
- 1 scoop (30g) vanilla protein powder (for the full 16g protein)
- 2–3 Tbsp powdered sugar-free sweetener, to taste
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- ½ tsp lemon zest (optional, brightens the flavour)
Swaps
- Strawberry: Use small diced strawberries instead of blueberries — dry them just as well.
- Raspberry: Whole raspberries work — handle gently so they don’t break.
- No protein powder: Skip it and add ½ cup extra yogurt; protein per serving drops to about 10g.
- Chocolate-dipped: Dip the frozen bites in melted sugar-free chocolate and refreeze 10 minutes.
Instructions
| 1 | Dry the blueberries. Wash the blueberries, spread them on a clean towel or paper towels, and pat completely dry. Pick out any soft or split berries. |
| 2 | Make the coating. Stir the Greek yogurt, protein powder, sweetener, vanilla, salt and lemon zest together until smooth and thick, like soft-serve. |
| 3 | Coat the berries. Add the dry blueberries to the bowl and fold gently until every berry is coated, or spear each berry with a toothpick and dip for the neatest finish. |
| 4 | Lay them out. Line a tray or plate with parchment. Place the coated berries in a single layer, not touching, so they freeze as individual bites. |
| 5 | Freeze until firm. Freeze for about 1 hour, until completely solid. Smaller berries may be ready in 45 minutes. |
| 6 | Store and serve. Tip the bites into a freezer container or bag. Serve straight from the freezer, letting them sit 2–3 minutes so the centre turns creamy, not icy. |
Pro tips
- Dry berries are everything — wet berries = sliding yogurt and icy bites.
- Thick yogurt only. Runny yogurt won’t coat; strain it for 10 minutes if needed.
- Don’t let the bites touch on the tray, or you’ll freeze one giant cluster.
- Work fast once coated — warm yogurt thins and drips.
- Let bites sit 2–3 minutes before eating for the creamiest centre.
